The ready kindergartener is defined in South Carolina as when the child, with engaged support from parents, caregivers, and community, has developed the skills and abilities necessary for achievement at age-appropriate levels. The child is physically, socially, and emotionally prepared to benefit from a quality kindergarten experience. It is important for children to be surrounded by a support network from families and caregivers, neighbors and communities, as well as, schools and educators.
